“When they were little girls, they decided that they would be best friends forever. A whale never forgets a promise.” -Anneliese Juergensen

i have now died. of joy.

I don’t think I’ve seen art of an old mermaid (mermatron? mergranny?) before.
I love it!

Oh look it’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen

Sorry, it seems to be raining on my face.

I want to read this novel NOW.

This is Anneliese, the artist who drew this picture, and it’s interesting that you should mention this being a book…
BECAUSE IT’S TOTALLY GOING TO BE A BOOK! :D
I have written a children’s picture book based on this, and have spent the last few months creating illustrations and work-shopping it with my SCBWI group. I am now in the process of looking for an agent or editor for it!
(If anyone has a recommendation for someone in the children’s publishing industry who may be interested in acquiring it, please let me know! I’d be very grateful! You can contact me via Tumblr ask or through my website.)
Also, I’ve been peeking at some of the reblogs of this picture, and it’s been overwhelming… in a good way! The comments on this are amazing, whether funny (THE MERMA-TRON ROBOT!) or moving (I saw a few people saying how it reminded them of their friends, or loved ones, and it’s just- awww! Who is cutting onions near me again???) or thought-provoking (I came across someone saying how it could be seen as a comment on positive body image, with the big whale and the thin mermaid being friends instead of competitors or enemies. I thought that was beautiful! It’s an honor to see your work being interpreted and discussed in such thoughtful ways!)
Thank you aquaticallyinclined for sharing this, and I’m giving a WHALE of a hug to all the lovely people here who’ve inspired me! <3

YAY ANNELIESE!! I love these two, I can’t wait to see how it all comes out!!

The streets of San Francisco are lined with pear, plum and apple trees thanks to ‘guerilla grafters’ secretly grafting fruit-bearing scions onto ornamental, non-fruit bearing trees making fresh fruit free and available to everyone who wishes to pick some.

'All you have to do is make a slit with a knife in a branch on the host tree, insert a branch from a fruit-bearing tree, and secure it with tape.  Once it heals, it connects.” — Tara Hui started the movement and has been grafting fruit branches to city trees for two years now.

How great would it be to see free fruit from guerilla grafters growing in your city?  Want to start a trend?

yo my grandpa has done this with some trees on our property so we got some weird ass trees LOL

fucking frankenstein monster trees

best shit ever

I want this to happen in Calgary!

do you think God ever gets sad like “what do you mean you don’t love yourself i worked so hard on you….”

…why is this so uplifting

I’m not even religious and this makes me smile.

Cutting in half a round Ruby and Cubic Zirconia stone with a small stone set in a bezel in the center is the key to this design.
But I decided to take it one step further by adding color stones to the engagement ring. The Peridot (the green stones) represents the heath and the engagement band set with blue Topaz shows your experience.
Credit goes to my little brother, Josh, for coming up with the name of the design. I present, the Trainer’s Band.
